Daywork ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Daywork mobile application (iOS and Android), the website at usedaywork.com, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our Service.

By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account Information: When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and password.
  • Profile Information: Vendors may provide a trade/service category, business address, working hours, timezone, and portfolio images.
  • Customer Records: Vendors may store customer names, addresses, and service notes to manage their business.
  • Job & Booking Data: Details of job requests, scheduled jobs, recurring jobs, reschedule requests, completion photos, and job notes.
  • Messages: Content of messages exchanged between vendors and customers through our in-app messaging feature.
  • Reviews & Ratings: Reviews and star ratings left by customers for vendors.
  • Payment Information: Subscription billing is processed by Stripe. We store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status but never store credit card numbers, CVVs, or full payment credentials on our servers.
  • Referral Information: Referral codes and the identity of referring/referred users when you participate in our referral program.
  • Support Communications: Any information you provide when contacting us for support.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, and push notification tokens (Expo Push Tokens).
  • Location Data: With your permission, we collect your approximate location to auto-fill service addresses and enable location-based vendor discovery. You can revoke location permission at any time through your device settings.
  • Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, timestamps, and interaction patterns to improve the Service.
  • Log Data: IP address, browser type, referring URLs, and access times for security and diagnostic purposes.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Google Places API: When you search for or enter addresses, Google may process that query. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Calendar Providers: If you connect a Google or Apple calendar, we access calendar event data solely to sync your Daywork schedule. We do not read unrelated calendar events.
  • Stripe: Stripe shares subscription status and billing events with us via webhooks. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including matching customers with vendors.
  • Process vendor subscriptions and manage billing status.
  • Send push notifications for job requests, reschedules, cancellations, reminders, and other updates you have opted into.
  • Enable in-app messaging between vendors and customers.
  • Display vendor profiles, ratings, reviews, portfolio items, and service areas to customers.
  • Send transactional emails (verification, password reset, billing receipts).
  • Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues.
  • Analyze usage to improve features, fix bugs, and optimize performance.
  • Administer referral and promotional programs.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in these limited circumstances:

  • Between Vendors and Customers: When a customer books a vendor, relevant contact and job details are shared to facilitate the service.
  • Service Providers: We use third-party services (Stripe for payments, AWS for hosting and storage, SendGrid for email, Google for address lookup, Expo for push notifications) that process data on our behalf under contractual safeguards.
  • Public Profiles: Vendor names, trades, ratings, reviews, portfolio images, and service areas may be publicly visible on the platform to facilitate discovery.
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
  • With Your Consent: We may share information for other purposes with your explicit consent.

4. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., billing records, dispute resolution).

Job completion photos and portfolio images stored in our cloud storage are deleted when the associated account or content is removed.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS) for all communications.
  • Hashed and salted passwords — we never store plaintext passwords.
  • JWT-based authentication with secure token handling.
  • Stripe webhook signature verification to prevent spoofing.
  • Role-based access controls and server-authoritative permission checks.
  • Rate limiting to prevent brute-force and abuse.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Account Controls

  • Access & Update: You can view and update your profile information at any time through the app.
  • Delete Account: You can request account deletion from within the app or by contacting us. We will process deletion within 30 days.
  • Notification Preferences: You can enable or disable specific push notification categories (new requests, updates, reschedules, cancellations) in app settings.
  • Location Permission:You can revoke location access at any time through your device's system settings.
  • Photo Access:You can revoke camera/photo library access through your device's system settings.

6.2 California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at the address below.

6.3 European Residents (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, and port your data. You also have the right to withdraw consent and lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Contact us to exercise these rights.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 16, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

8. Third-Party Links and Services

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services (e.g., Stripe checkout, Google Calendar authorization). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.

9. Push Notifications

We use Expo Push Notification services to deliver notifications to your device. You can manage notification preferences within the app and disable push notifications entirely through your device's system settings. Push notification tokens are stored securely and used solely for delivering notifications you have opted into.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
